]]>About halfway down the Oregon coast there is this...hole. When the tide rushes in it fills this partial seacave and blasts saltspray up, often 15 feet into the air. Anyway, it drains back in a spectacular fashion.

When I was out there the wind was insane, with gusts up to around 45 mph, blowing me and my tripod about, so I had to stand back farther than I might have liked to get this shot; otherwise my camera and I would have had been VERY wet/fried. In retrospect, I probably should have tried to shoot a bit wider, but oh well, too late now. While I'm voicing regrets, I wish I also had a 4-6 stop ND filter with as only getting a 1/5 second exposure at f/22 and ISO-50 is kind of sad and I would have wished for a 2-3 second exposure to better capture the motion...

There were about 35 people here when I arrived and I had to wait around forever (well, it seemed like it anyway) until the crowds left...I never would have thought a Monday afternoon would be this busy.

About 5 minutes after I took this shot, I met Marc Adamus on the trail, which was quite awesome. He has been one of the photographic masters that I have been admiring for years. Unfortunately I was on a time crunch (my ride was waiting impatiently at the base of the mountain) and couldn't stay. Anyway, that made my day.

]]>After a long day of hiking in Mount Rainier National Park the aptly named Summit Burger was a satisfying end to my day. If you find yourself rather starved on the west end of Rainier, the Wild Berry Restaurant (Ashford, WA) has this rather suitable option to appease those grumbling stomachs.

Note: this is not fancy product photography, just the ambient lighting in the restaurant.

]]>This is what happens when you arrive at Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor far to late for sunset...you take the wrong trailhead (they are poorly marked, even in daylight), stumble around for a while, realize you are lost, and hope the headlamp batteries last...

Anyway, I was trying to find the location of the Natural Bridges, but the map lied (or I would like to believe so at any rate).

Later I tried to find out where precisely I took this shot; I looked at 3 maps of the area, none agreed...so this is my Boardman shot of dubious location. I was standing next to a cliff, near a waterfall of some sort. I had hoped to reproduce something similar to an awesome shot by Jesse Estes, but I arrived late and got lost instead...I did see a mountain goat though.
